Back in the Saddle

So I’m back in the saddle.  The summer has been busy at work.  I spent over 5 months away from home, away from my family, away from friends and away from my passions.  I also had to move… twice.  It was rough but fruitful.

I come back here to find what I feel is like a smoking crater.  I haven’t had the time to keep up on the website and for that I am sorry.  It was largely out of my control and definitely not for a lack of trying or wanting to keep rolling out new content on this site.

With the winter months approaching, I will have more time to spend on my hobbies and passions, a large chunk of that will be gaming.

I recently introduced a third computer to my desk setup.  This one is 100% dedicated to streaming.  While I still do not have the hardware to stream at 720p because this computer is dedicated to streaming, there will be no stream stability issues or at least not as many.  I’m still waiting on a dedicated internet connection to be installed to my office so that may cause problems.

I’ve found myself playing a lot of Kerbal Space Program over the summer.  Mainly because it can be played on my older laptop and doesn’t need an internet connection to play.

During the few occasions when I had time at home to play games, I found myself playing Star Citizen’s Arena Commander, Payday 2, Diablo 3 and a few other steam games.  I’ve watched a lot of games release this summer and I wasn’t impressed, but you all know that I don’t buy into the mainstream game marketing that goes on.

I’m really eager to see what Star Citizen turns into.  I think Chris Roberts and his team at Cloud Imperium Games are doing an outstanding job.  They have a ton of work to do, more than most game developers because they are inventing many wheels at once.  Star Citizen will release with many brand new technologies, probably 10-20 large new technologies, unlike mainstream games that might have  a single never-before-seen technology.  I really hope that CIG can set the bar much higher for game developers world-wide so we can stop this slump in new game quality.

I’m not locking myself into Star Citizen though.  I’m keeping an open mind about new games until they show me that they will be crap like the majority of them.  If you have any suggestions for games that I should check out, please list them in comments!
